Hope's DIY Tables For Every Occassion Created in 2021
Created in March 2021, 'Hope's DIY Tables For Every Occassion' was started by me. Since one of my hobbies is collecting vintage pieces, be it crockery, cutlery, glassware, linen, furniture, etc and I just love beautifully decorated dinner tables, creating the Facebook page was unavoidable. With this page I wanted to reignite the love for a beautifully decorated table, but also encourage people to realise that one does not need an occasion to decorate a table, the occasion is you. Most of my wares I buy from charity shops and the rest from eBay and Facebook marketplace. For me, heading into a charity shop hunting for vintage items, is like embarking on a treasure hunt. I also wanted to confirm that one does not need to pay the earth for the vintage items, that it's okay to mix the old with the new and that even a bbq deserves it's own table.
Over the years people started following me from different parts of the world and some have asked me for advice on table setting. I also encourage followers to:
(i.) Enjoy setting their tables with the knowledge that it's a reflection of one's personality,
(ii) Not to pay too much attention to perfection (my table my way),
(iii) To think outside of the box in relation to items used to decorate one's tables with.
My hobby gave me the courage to plan the tables for our wedding and also to decorate the venue for my sister's 50th birthday. I find great joy in sharing my tables on this platform and love the fact that my followers are a diverse group of people, including men.
